Delightfully Gluten Free (TM)

Some Items of Note

Just a few things I wanted to mention about various products.

Remember, always read labels.

I have been buying the Wal-Mart Great Value canned beans for awhile (like all varieties of plain canned beans), as they said gluten-free. Well, lo and behold, they no longer say gluten-free on them, but now have the facility with wheat warning. So, either they’ve changed something in that facility, or my beans are now coming from a different facility. I’m still leery about their facility warning, especially since they come from so many different places (and it’s really hard to find out).

Rachael Ray Stock in A Box – I saw chicken stock and beef stock, and both say gluten-free on the label.

Great Value (Wal-Mart brand) chicken and beef stock both in a box both said gf.

Kozy Shack puddings – Did you know they say gluten-free on the package? I’ve had the tapioca and rice ones before and we love them (these are refrigerated kinds). Today I bought a sugar-free apple pie a la mode. It’s pretty good. But, I can taste the Splenda (but I can taste it in almost everything it’s in, and other sweeteners, too). I needed something sweet though (and no sugar for this baby, apparently).

A Taste of Thai – apparently there has been a run on these at Wal-Mart (yes, I do most of my shopping there), as they have been out all week. I have now tried the Pad Thai (make sure you are getting the new boxes that say gluten-free), and I really like it, too. I dearly love the peanut noodles (as if you didn’t already know). I need to get up the courage to try the other ones (red curry, yellow curry, and coconut and ginger, I think). Oh, and my little one, Carter (21 months), ate half my pad thai again today.

Rice Chex – If you haven’t heard, Rice Chex has gone gluten-free. The gf boxes have not hit the shelves yet at my WM, but they are out in some stores already. They are supporting the Celiac Disease Foundation, and have told us that they are working hard to make sure there is no cross contact with gluten.

The coconut and ginger Taste of Thai are amazing, but apparently popular as they are always out at my local Wal-Mart.
