We had a wonderful time at our Moving Feet Without Wheat awareness walk in Arlington, Texas, last Saturday. Even though we had been delayed because of raging thunderstorms in the morning, we still had a great turnout. And there was so much food.
The kids had a blast playing in the bounce house, getting their faces painted, doing potato sack races, and winning cakes on the cake walk.
Did I mention we had a ton of food?
I would like to publicly thank all of the companies that donated to us. However, I do not yet have a complete list, so I will do that later.
Wanna see what you missed? Check out my pictures. Hopefully, you will also be able to participate in an awesome event like this.
Speaking of awesome events, are you signed up and ready for the Gluten Intolerance Group’s Annual Education Conference? I am so ready - I head to Seattle on the first of June!
Back to business.
If you looked at those pictures previously mentioned, you will see some massive baskets of food and stuff that I won. As the book sales chairman, I had donated some books to the baskets. I ended up winning 2 of the Gluten-Free Cookies by Jeanne Basye. You may have heard me mention it before – because I already have it, as does my entire family. So what should I do?
Give it to you!
So, here’s the deal. Leave a comment and tell me your favorite kind of cookie. WordPress requires you enter your email address, so as long as you do that correctly, we’re good. I (or one of my children, most likely) will randomly draw the winner this coming Friday, May 29th, at whatever time works for us (probably about 6:00 pm Central). I will post and email the winner, who can then email me their address, and then I’ll have Andy ship it (because I will be headed to Seattle, remember?). I should have put this earlier, but it didn’t occur to me: I don’t think I can handle international shipping, so please only enter if you’re in the U.S. Thanks.
My first giveaway… I’m so excited. Make this fun for me, and I’ll do some more.

Snickerdoodle, hands down! Can’t wait to meet you when you come to Seattle next month

Yummy – chocolate chip cookies made with unsweetened coconut flakes, sunflower seeds, and molasses.
Comment by Rebecca — May 24, 2009 @ 12:19 pm |
That definitely sounds interesting. Do you have a favorite recipe?
Comment by Cassandra — May 24, 2009 @ 1:57 pm |
No special recipe – just make regular cookies and cut the sugar down a bit and add some molasses. Just use the coconut and sunflower seeds like the nuts in the recipe.
I tend to leave out the white sugar, add only the brown sugar and just dump in some molasses. I don’t measure!

Chocolate with peanut butter chips – found on the Reese’s bag! SOO good when the chips are melty. I also love little Mexican wedding cookies – the little ones covered in powdered sugar. YUM!

Snickerdoodles are my favourite, but I am thinking of looking for a good soft pumpkin chocolate chip, because they are really yummy too. Is there a recipe for them in this book?
Comment by Diamond — May 24, 2009 @ 2:53 pm |
Yes, Diamond, there is a pumpkin chocolate chip recipe in this book. I haven’t made it, but now you’ve got me curious…

So many cookies, so little time. I have many top ranking cookies, but my fave is my grandma’s apple cookies. I have yet to be able to successfully make a GF, cane sugar free version though. But they are sooo good that it’s worth trying!

You can’t go wrong with a chocolate chip cookie, but my favorites have always been what my mother dubbed “monster” cookies. Oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips or M&Ms.

You mean we have to choose only one? Depending on my mood, I waver between flourless chocolate walnut, lemon custard bars and butterscotch shortbread. Today, I am feeling bright and sunny getting ready to go camping with the Girl scouts so, for now, lemon custard bars.
