Delightfully Gluten Free (TM)

Giveaway Extravanganza – Part 1

Updated 8/26*

I know how much you all like giveaways, and I’ve got a few in line.  I thought about doing one a week, but I may just stack them on top of each other.  I guess you’ll have to watch and see.  Mostly, it depends on when I’ve got time at the computer not devoted to work.  This could prove to be interesting.  We’ll call it the Giveaway Extravaganza.  I sincerely hope it lives up to its name.

School starts tomorrow morning for us.  Braden is ecstatic to begin fourth grade, and Carter is incomprehensibly excited to start pre-Kindergarten.

Do you know who else is super-excited about back-to-school?  Ian’s Natural Foods is!  With food allergies on the rise, and so many parents wondering what to put in lunch boxes, Ian’s would like to help kick-start the school year.  They are offering 2 bags of their Wheat Free / Gluten Free Animal Cookies and 2 bags of their Wheat Free /Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Buttons, perfect for the lunchbox…

…to 3 lucky readers!

That’s right, three winners.

To enter the contest, simply leave a comment about school.  Whatever you want (as long as it’s clean, and not political – because I just don’t want to read that).  For instance, Corice is going to be severely put out when she realizes that she does not get to go to school, too.  Or maybe tell me about the children with food allergies in your child’s class.  I’ve given you ideas, now get commenting!

This giveaway will end at 9:00pm Central on Monday, August 30, 2010.  This giveaway is restricted to US addresses.

*Due to my lack of posting this summer, and my readers not checking back as frequently, I am going to extend this giveaway until Tuesday, September 7th, 2010, at 9:00pm Central.

    These look great.

This year, school is different for us. My oldest graduated homeschool last year and this year is my youngests senior year. It’s very weird. Just new things and happenings going on.

I want cookies. I don’t know what school will bring this year as my child is only in kindergarten. However the teacher already knows his name and school has not started yet.

My boys are excited to go back to school. It might be the new backpacks they picked out!

We love Ian’s snacks and foods!

When I was in school, I LOVED the first day. But back then I hadn’t yet been diagnosed, so I was getting sick from eating my sandwich and cookies each day. If only I would have known!

My daughter started 1st grade this week. This year we are trying to make our mornings easier by making lunch the night before. At the same time I am also making lunch for my 3 year old to eat at home.

Luckily we are very happy with sandwiches for lunch every day. After adding a fruit, I have the hardest time deciding what else would be good for snack. She picked peanut butter on crackers for today.

School snacks are hard for children with food allergies, these help make all kids feel like their lunches and snacks are normal and what everyone would like to be eating… Now to just convince them not to trade! 😉

My son is super excited for school – at least in part because it means junky school lunch once a week. Sigh.

My two grandsons went back to school today – they are Celiac. I am a teacher and go back to school next week – this week is inservice – more and more of my students are being diagnosed with Celiacs and a co-teacher was just diagnosed 10 days ago! Thanks to all companies who are making gluten free products!

My youngest started kindergarten yesterday.. It was bittersweet. He didn’t realize I was “leaving me (him) there” alone. I took comfort in the fact that there was another child with gluten intolerance in his class..my boy won’t be alone and his teacher will be ever more vigilant. The biggest problem we have with gluten free is goldfish crackers…This is the one thing my guy might lie, cheat, and steal for –he is adamant that he is “not allergic”. 🙂 I just found the recipe you posted and am going to try it!! Thank you!

School makes me want cookies! My youngest went to her first day of preschool on Tuesday and on Wednesday when I told her sisters to get ready for school she went to get ready too. I had to break the news to her that she didn’t have school that day and she threw herself down to have a meltdown about not getting to go to school too! What more could a mother ask for?!

Oh my! I work at a middle school and I’m 4 weeks in to being gluten free. the cookies would be so welcome in my lunch bag you have no idea…Well, actually you probably do have an idea. 🙂 Thanks!

My child has snack time at school daily, so I send in individual Gluten free snacks . She helps me prepare them and then the teacher lets her choose what she wants that day.

Even at 49, I still feel like the New Year’s Day is the day after Labor Day when school starts here in Oregon.

My gluten free/dairy free 3 year old starts preschool next week and I am most concerned about food safety. I know she’ll make friends, will love the playground and art activities but I’m so afraid that her food needs won’t be properly respected Lots of deep breathing and practice opening snack containers independently going on around here.
