Delightfully Gluten Free (TM)

Giveaway Extravaganza – Part 4

Tomorrow morning, the North Texas Gluten Intolerance group will be having our monthly support group meeting.  Instead of a speaker, however, we will be getting ready for the Gluten-Free Makeover event.  So come help us, if you can, put together the final touches.  If that’s not a good enough reason for you, The Mellow Mushroom will be serving us hot gluten-free pizza!

You may have seen the press release that I quickly posted last week.  In case you didn’t feel like reading it, here’s a snippet of what the event is about:

  • Food, glorious food!
  • Celiac / Gluten Intolerance awareness
  • Food
  • Fundraising for North Texas GIG, and our community efforts (we are a 501(c)3)
  • Did I mention food?

It will be held at the Gaylord Texan (in Grapevine) on September 19th, 2010, in The Glass Cactus.

Check out the restaurants involved:

  • Grill on the Alley
  • Old Hickory Steakhouse
  • Fresco’s
  • Fish City Grill
  • Kozy Kitchen
  • Wholesome Foods Bakery
  • Sprout’s Farmers Market
  • Chadra Mezza
  • Central Market
  • Garliq
  • Asian Mint
  • Whole Foods
  • PF Changs
  • Blue Mesa
  • Italianni’s
  • Thai Papaya Garden
  • Spring Creek BBQ
  • Carino’s
  • Wildwood Grill
  • Pamela’s
  • GlutenOut Pasta
  • Udi’s
  • Taste of Spain
  • Hail Merry

Wow, what a list!  For a $25 ticket, you’re going to get a serious bang for your buck.

To learn more, check out northtexasgig.com.  When you get there, come find me.  You know where I’ll be – at the book table, selling cookbooks, gluten-free lifestyle and medical books, and support materials.  We’ll also have our newly updated restaurant guide!

And since we’re talking about cookbooks, North Texas GIG would like to offer a cookbook for a giveaway, to get you excited about the Gluten-Free Makeover!  I’m going to give one lucky commenter a copy of Gluten-Free Cookies by Jeanne Basye (you may remember this from my very first giveaway ever).

Here’s the cookie scoop:  Peruse the Gluten-Free Makeover event page, and tell me something that excites you about this.  I shouldn’t need to give you any hints.

This contest is only open to those in the U.S.  It will close at 9:00pm central on Monday, September 20, 2010.

Kristi Chrysler is exciting. I attended several of her presentations at a conference a couple of years ago. I’d love to learn if she has new presentations and info!

    Wish you were closer!!
I like the idea of sampling from 20 different restaurants! Who knew that many would be so into gluten-free dining.

Food sampling always seems jolly, but I love the idea of a seminar about health and beauty products. While I’ve gotten rid of the hidden gluten in my food sources, I’m much less thorough about it in make up and and other personal products.

I’m going to have to go with the food samples as well. I’m glad that some of them are national chains, because I would be too jealous if they were all just local and I can’t get there. I’ve never been to a seminar/conference on GF. It is probably very interesting to listen to someone speak on it, different than reading blogs and articles.

Definentely the food sampling! I am always jealous of the other food samplers at Sam’s Club! 🙂

I think it’s great to have so much information and GF samples. I only wish I was in Texas. . .

The whole event sounds neat- wish I could be there. I would be excited to have that many vendors/restaurants all in one place to sample and know that none of it would make me sick!!!. Good luck and I hope it is successful.
