Delightfully Gluten Free (TM)

Look Out Gastros!

Tomorrow morning, I head to Chicago!  I’ve never been there before, but that’s not what excites me the most.  I am going to represent The Gluten Intolerance Group at Digestive Disease Week!  DDW is “the world’s largest gathering of physicians and researchers in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy, and gastrointestinal surgery.”  Yep, those are the people that generally diagnose celiac disease.

And I’m going to talk to them.  (Yikes!)

Stacey Juhnke (branch manager of GIG of Fargo) and I are going to run the GIG booth.  Basically, we want to let the doctors and researchers know about GIG’s programs, the myriad of free resources at http://gluten.net, and that GIG supports all persons living gluten-free, though we encourage everyone to be screened for celiac disease before going gluten-free.

We’ll leave the doctor talk to the doctors.  And they will be talking about it.  Just glancing through the program guide (read: searching for “celiac” in the pdf guide)  there are many courses that have a section on celiac disease, and 4 that are devoted to it.

While I’m gone, I’m going to turn my blog over to my friend, Sara Boswell.  Sara is working on her PhD in food science technology, and may very likely be someone you will thank for commercial gluten-free breads getting better.  She and her husband both have celiac disease, and she takes her baking very seriously.  She also decorates some pretty awesome cupcakes.

So, without further ado, wish me luck (I’ve got to smile for 3 days straight), and give Sara a warm welcome!

I don’t have a blog email list. Are you talking about receiving the posts via email? I will need to look into that.
Sara does not have a gluten-free blog. She pops up here for that.
