Delightfully Gluten Free (TM)

Kinnikinnick Pumpkin Spice Donuts

Fall: it’s the time of year where pumpkins are everywhere you look – in the fields, on doorsteps, in pies, breads, cookies, soups (I once made an entire soup IN a pumpkin – I wish I could find that recipe), and even donuts.

Kinnikinnick Pumpkin Spice DonutsYes, it’s that time of year again.  Kinnikinnick is selling their Pumpkin Spice Donuts (gluten-free, of course!)!

There is just a hint of pumpkin flavor to these donuts, with the majority of the taste being owned by the spices.  Though certainly not overwhelming, the nutmeg is an understated star of this show.

Try to behave yourself and eat just one or two.  I’m trying…

Kinnikinnick donuts are of the cake breed, slightly moist and just a little dense.  I’ve watched people flock to the Kinnikinnick tables at expos for years, and the donuts are still a hit.  Their regular donuts are Chocolate Dipped, Cinnamon Sugar, Vanilla Glazed, and Maple Glazed, which can often be found in health food stores or grocery stores with a decent-sized gluten-free section.  The seasonal varieties, like Pumpkin Spice, can be purchased online at Kinnikinnick.com (get them until November 30th!).  If you watch for it, you’ll find other varieties of seasonal donuts pop up, too, like the Valentine’s Cinnamon-Apple.

Did you know that you can even do a search by allergies on Kinnikinnick’s website?  All products are gluten-free/wheat-free and nut-free.  You can choose to search by products if you’re avoiding any of the following: casein (dairy), yeast, eggs, sugar, soy, corn, potato, and/or if you’re looking for something vegan.  Kinnikinnick makes it easy to find something to suit your needs.

These samples were sent to me by Kinnikinnick, for the purpose of testing and possible review.

These were really good, I’ve got a couple left in the freezer (not quite Autumn enough for these in NJ, but the leaves are starting to change!). As with all their donuts they’re best if you defrost them just a touch too long in the microwave and then eat them warm! Really looking forward to the Apple Cinnamon Donuts if they do them again this year.
