Delightfully Gluten Free (TM)

Straw Propeller GF Instant Oatmeal

Ooey, gooey, creamy, luscious goodness.  That’s the new Straw Propeller Gluten-Free instant oatmealsApple Crisp Gluten-Free.

It was one of those mornings where the time magically disappeared.  Truly, I had no idea how late it was until my alarm went off to send Carter out the door (and I should be getting Braden and Corice in the car).  Yikes!  Another morning of protein bars at the office, I figured.  Ah, but wait.  I saw the box I was sent from Straw Propeller foods for review and I snagged one.

Apple Crisp oatmeal?  Don’t mind if I do, especially since it was creamy, gooey, and uber-flavorful.  It had lots and lots of apple chunks, large chunks of walnuts and a few white chocolate chips for that extra little bit of decadence.

Having not read the package ahead of time, I had assumed they were microwavable.  The good people at Straw Propeller do not recommend that.  Luckily, I found some paper cups in the copy room and was good to go.  But, being not microwaveable, this is great for all those times when you don’t have a microwave, like camping.

The Fruit & Nuts variety has more of a healthy granola flavor, as it is filled with raisins, blueberries, cherries, walnuts, and almonds.  I was worried the smell of burnt paper cup (using the same cup the second day = oops!) would cause some stares down the office hallway, but the smell of the “scrumptious mix of fruit and nuts” apparently won over as my friend Ron came to sniff my oatmeal.  It made for a great breakfast…and, no, I did not share.

Straw Propeller

Straw Propeller’s gluten-free oatmeal uses certified gf oats.  The Fruit & Nut variety and Wholly Oats (basically oats and maple sugar) variety are both vegan.  It is a family-owned company that has some really interesting-sounding varieties of oatmeal.  Perhaps if we show them how interested we are, they will make even more of their varieties gluten-free!
