Fischer & Wieser Chipotle Sauces

Sometimes, you just need a little “spicy” in your life.  I never used to think that fruit and spicy peppers belonged together.  I now, however, know that this is entirely untrue.  When done properly, they make a perfect match.

I received a couple of bottles of sauce on behalf of Fischer & Wieser: Pomegranate & Mango Chipotle Sauce and Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce.  They couldn’t have picked a better selection to send me.  I love pomegranates.  They remind me of one of my grandmas, who had a pomegranate tree in her backyard when I was young.  Mangoes make me happy.  Fresh raspberries are my absolutely favorite fruit.

The package showed up just as I was about to throw some chicken on the grill one night, so we decided to try the pomegranate and mango chipotle sauce on our grilled chicken.  Had Carter been feeling better that night, he probably would have had some with us, because he tends to be the most adventurous (food-wise) of the children.  However, it was left to Martin and I to delve into its goodness.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the flavors melded.  The sweet flavor of pomegranates and mangoes blended splendidly with the spicy chipotle peppers to add excitement to my grilled chicken.

With great anticipation, I allowed some pork chops the pleasure of being blanketed in the Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce.  I think the chops, themselves, would have been better had I grilled them.  But the sauce certainly shone.  Martin said it was “definitely one to write about.”  You really could taste the raspberries!

I thought it had an awesome flavor combo.  I found it to have a little kick, but it wasn’t too spicy.  Martin was a tiny bit let down.  He was hoping for it to be hot.  For a point of reference, let me just admit to you that he is a little insane when it comes to spicy foods.  We once shared the hottest dish on P.F. Chang’s gf menu, and, while I was nearly crying and my nose was running from eating one of those tiny sriracha peppers, he was happily munching on 5 of them (and I’m no wimp).  When it comes to a food’s heat, I’ve learned to not trust his judgement.  :)  He did love the sauce, though.

Unless you’re a heat wimp (don’t worry, we love you, too), you’ll probably appreciate these sauces.

We were a bit astounded by the number of sauces they have, and I foresee us trying more (Roasted Blueberry Chipotle, Hibiscus & Ancho Chile Grilling Sauce anyone?).  They also have some recipes that sound awesome, like Berry Good Shrimp Tacos.

I’ve never noticed these in the stores before, but that’s probably just because I don’t spend much time in the sauce aisle.  According to the store finder, they are in all the grocery stores where I normally shop.  I guess it’s time to head down the sauce aisle.
