Chia\Vie

“A single spoonful of chia could sustain an Aztec warrior for an entire day.”

That’s a pretty powerful little seed, according to the Chia\Vie bottle.

And yes, if you are singing the old “ch-ch-ch-chia” commercial ditty, then you are correct.  It is, in fact, the same seed.  (For the record, I always sing that ditty when I hear the word “chia”.)

I was sent a bottle of Chia\Vie on behalf of the company.  I’d never even heard of it before. I have, however, heard a lot about chia.  A few years ago, it seemed as though one company was marketing chia seeds to the gluten-free community. These days, I think just about everyone has realized its nutritional potential.  This is the first time I’ve seen it in a drink form, however.

I was sent the Acerola-Piña Smoothie flavor.  I can definitely taste the pineapple, but since I have no idea what acerola is supposed to taste like, I can’t really tell you if I taste it.  :)
The smoothie has a good flavor with a bit of tang to it.  It has a little “soft grit” from the ground chia seeds, but unless you’re OCD about your smoothies, it’s not bothersome.

Corice thinks it’s really good, too.

Every bottle of Chia\Vie has 2000mg of Omega-3, as well as 600mg of Omega-6 and 88mg of Omega-9, two servings of fruit and no added sugar.  You also get 4 grams of fiber and 240% of your daily value of Vitamin C in this gluten-free, 100% vegan drink.  It currently also comes in Mango-J and Banapple Berry flavors.

For those of you that are eco-friendly or even if you just like cute stuff, it come in a cute, reusable, lightweight aluminum bottle.  It seems like a good purse-size bottle to me.

You can shop online or perhaps find them in a store near you.
