Bugs in our Food?

While not a gluten-free issue, all of us who are gluten-free can definitely agree that ingredients that are not properly labeled can be harmful.

I was just made aware that Dannon and other companies are using bug-based food dyes in their products.  For people with allergies to bugs, this can be a huge problem.  I have a friend, for example, that is highly allergic to cockroaches.  He is also allergic to red dyes.  Coincidence?  Perhaps not.

What about vegetarians, vegans, and Jews who keep Kosher?  Don’t they have a right to know if they are eating bugs (animal-based extracts) in their yogurt or other foods?
