Delightfully Gluten Free (TM)

Surf Sweets

It seems that Corice really wins out, being the only one at home during the day.  Like today, when I finally open the bags of candy that have been sitting on my desk, next to my computer, taunting my children for some time.

Surf Sweets all natural candiesSurf Sweets sent me some of their natural candy to try.  I first heard of them at Expo West, back in March, and was pretty impressed with what I saw.

They aren’t your typical candy.  They are:

  • Made with organic fruit juice and sweeteners
  • Natural colors and flavors
  • 100% RDA of Vitamin C
  • Free of corn syrup and GMOs
  • Made in a nut-free facility
  • Gluten Free
  • Dairy free and casein free, and free of the top 10 allergens

They are sweetened with things like organic evaporated cane juice and organic tapioca syrup, and colored with things like organic black carrot juice concentrate, turmeric, annatto.

They have:

  • Gummy Worms
  • Gummy Swirls
  • Gummy Bears
  • Fruity Bears
  • Jelly Beans
  • Sour Worms
  • Sour Berry Bears

I’ve tried some natural candies before that seemed to be the exact same thing, just in different shapes.  These, clearly, are not like that.  Each kind of candy has a different texture, and some different flavors.  They are sweet and satisfying, with a chew like that of other brands of candy, but the flavors definitely taste more real.  They aren’t huge flavors, but more subtle, and don’t carry that “fake” taste.

Surf Sweets is definitely on the list for good, tasty candy, without the potentially bad ingredients that you often find.  I have friends with children who are allergic to some of the dyes (especially red #40), and they will be so excited to hear about these.
